The day’s highlight unfolded with Team Guyana’s historic triumph in the mixed 4x400m relay, securing their inaugural gold medal with a time of 3 minutes and 23.51 seconds. Grenada closely followed, clinching silver with a time of 3:29.19, while Jamaica settled for bronze with a time of 3:30.42.
In the Boys 4x100m Relay Under 20 final, Trinidad and Tobago showcased their sprinting prowess, seizing gold with a time of 40.45 seconds. The Trinibagonians shocked Jamaica, who held on for second place with a time of 40.55 seconds, while Grenada secured the bronze with a time of 40.70 seconds. Jamaica Dominates in U17 Events, Secures Gold in Boys and Girls 4x100m Relays at Carifta Games
Jamaica dominated the Girls 4x100m Relay Under 20 final, crossing the finish line in an impressive time of 43.63 seconds to claim the gold medal. Trinidad and Tobago followed suit with a silver medal, clocking in at 44.43 seconds, while the Bahamas secured bronze with a time of 45.40 seconds.
“We went out there and just executed. We have been training hard, and we gave it our best,” remarked Habiba Harris, who spoke for the Jamaica U20 girls team. Asked about their pursuit of the record, she confirmed they aimed for it, “but we didn’t quite reach it. Nonetheless, we ran a magnificent time, and we are very grateful for that.”
Jamaica continued their dominance in the Girls U17 event, triumphing with a time of 45.36 seconds, followed by the Bahamas securing silver in 46.28 seconds, and Trinidad and Tobago taking bronze with a time of 47.49 seconds.
In the Boys U17 event, the Jamaican team secured their second consecutive victory with a swift time of 41.30 seconds. Trinidad and Tobago claimed silver with a time of 41.53 seconds, while the Bahamas secured bronze in 42.30 seconds.
