Edwin Allen’s Serena Cole kicked off her 2023 season in style by winning both the Class 1 girls’ 100m and long jump events at the Purewater/JC/R. Danny Williams Invitational Track and Field Development Meet at Jamaica College’s Ashenheim Stadium on Saturday.
In the 100m, Cole finished first with a time of 11.58, followed by Mickyl Gardener of Wolmer’s in second place with a time of 11.91. Essenc Burbridge of Immaculate placed third with a time of 12.21, while Nydia Chance of William Knibb finished fourth in 12.21.
In the long jump final, Cole took the top spot with a jump of 5.58 meters, followed by Jada Kamtha of Wolmer’s in second place with 5.55 meters. Onanda Lowe of Immaculate placed third with a jump of 5.42 meters.
In the Class 2 girls’ long jump, Ishna James of Edwin Allen took first place with 5.37 meters, followed by Daneille Noble of Wolmer’s in second place with 5.00 meters.
In the Class 2 girls’ 100m, Sabrina Dockery of Lacovia topped the event in 11.92, followed by Lavanya Williams of William Knibb in second place with a time of 12.09. Shevi Anne Shin of Immaculate placed third with a time of 12.43, while Kelly-Ann Carr of Edwin Allen finished fourth with a time of 12.48.
In the Class 1 girls’ 800m race, Kishay Rowe of Alphansus Davis took first place with a time of 2:13.33, followed by Oneika Brissett of William Knibb in second place with a time of 2:16.41. Jamara Patterson of St. Catherine placed third.
Kayla Johnson of Immaculate came in first with a time of 12.5 in the Class 4 girls’ 100m. Naje Brown of Immaculate took second place with a time of 13.0.
