Williams, Cedenio secure wins at Ed Murphey Classic

Former world champion Danielle Williams was a winner at Sunday’s (15 Aug) Ed Murphey Classic held in Memphis, USA.

The Jamaican came close to her season-best with 12.64 (-0.2m/s wind), clearly beating American Sharika Nelvis, 12.81, in the women’s 100m hurdles.

Trinidad’s Machel Cedenio won the 400m in 45.98 ahead of Khallifah Rosser, 46.35 and Jamaican Javon Francis, 47.84.

Shamier Little won the women 400m in good 50.65 over fellow American Jessica Beard 50.85.

Meanwhile, former World indoor medalist Marvin Bracy equalled his 100m personal best to 9.85 (-0.4m/s). It was already his 7th sub 10 of the career.

Canadian relay Olympic medalist Jerome Blake, who also got a personal best, 10.06, finished second. Antiguan Cejhae Greene with 10.08 and Kyree King 10.10 rounded off the top four.

King returned later to win the men’s 200m dash in a personal best, 20.15 ahead of Jamaican Jevaughn Minzie, 20.41.

Olympic fourth placer Devon Allen ran the same time he did at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, 13.14 in the men’s 110m hurdles.

He finished third in the 200m in his second-best ever of 20.57.

Kiara Parker topped the 100m in 11.30 (-1.2m/s) and Dezerea Bryant the 200m in 22.78 (-0.1m/s).

Allie Wilson was the best in the 800m at 2:00.42. Jessica Ramsey 19.21m was the shot putter on the day at the Ed Murphey Classic.

The Ed Murphey Classic is a part of the American Track League.
