Jamaica outclassed by USA in 4×4 and SMR at Penn Relays 2018

Jamaica lost both men and women’s 4x400m relays in Saturday’s (28 April) USA vs the World Series at the 124th Penn Relays.

The men finished third behind the USA (3:02.31) and the Bahamas (3:02.54) in 3:03. 82.

The quartet of Peter Matthews, Demish Gaye, Jamari Rose and Jermaine Gayle trailed for the entire race to finish in 3:03.12.

The women of Christine Day (51.5), Anastasia Leroy (51.7), Rhonda Whyte (52.89) and Tiffany James (52.47) finished second in 3:28.59, sandwiched both USA Red, 3:26.73 and USA Blue, 3:32.94.

In the USA vs. the World Women Sprint Medley, Jamaica’s team with Sherone Simpson, Gayon Evans, Verone Chambers and Kalise Spencer, who ran the 400m in 52.14, ended third in 1:38.31.

Trinidad and Tobago led off with Khalifa St. Fort to Reyare Thomas, Kai Selvon and Sparkle McKnight (52.14) took second in 1:37.42 behind USA Red in 1:35.20.

Bahamas’ quartet of Shequnia Ferguson, Tamara Myers, Tynia Gaither and Katrina Seymour (52.65) were fourth in 1:39.03.

Jasmine Abrams, Chante Moore, Shenika King and Jenea McCammon (54.12) carried Guyana across the line, fifth in 1:42.36 .

Jamaica got disqualified after Everton Clarke, Martin Manley, Marzel Miller (45.7) and Danielle Glave (1:49.41) combined to cross the line in 3:17.74. USA topped the event in 3:14.91
