Chanice Porter named SEC Field Athlete of the Week

Jamaican Chanice Porter was named SEC Field Athlete of the Week (ending February 11).

In updated national team computer rankings from United States Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association,  Porter voted as Co-Women’s Field Athlete of the Week.

• Georgia sophomore Porter  sailed a career-long distance of 21 feet, 2 ¾ inches on her second attempt in the long jump to win at the VT Elite Meet.
• Measuring no less than 20-5 during her three attempts, Porter shot to No. 1 on the national performance list and No. 3 in the Lady Bulldog record books.
• This is the top effort for the Georgia women since Hyleas Fountain set the school record of 21-7.25 to win the 2004 NCAA Championships.
