tokyo 2020 alertsTokyo 2020 Olympic Games 100m champion and record holder Elaine Thompson-Herah showed superb form in semi-final two of the women’s 200 metres.

Thompson-Herah equalled her lifetime best of 21.66 seconds to take her semi-final. “Thanks for the continuous love and support  mission continues,” Thompson-Herah wrote on her social media page.

Meanwhile, 100 metres silver medallist Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce ran a very controlled race to take the first semi-final in 22.13 seconds. Bahamian Anthonique Strachan’s season’s best of 22.56 seconds in the same semi-finals wasn’t enough to earn her a lane in the final.

The third semi-final saw reigning Olympic 400 metres champion Shaunae Miller-Uibo producing a time of 22.14 seconds for the second automatic qualifying spot.
