tokyo 2020 alertsYohan Blake, disappointed by his Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games 100m performance, said he will return to the drawing board to decide his next move.

Blake failed to make the final of the men’s 100m after finishing sixth in his semi-final with 10.14 seconds. Blake’s teammate Oblique Seville, who also exited at the semi-final stage, makes it the first time in 17 years Jamaica was without a finalist.

Blake said, “I knew I had a chance, but I don’t know where this niggle come from …. ah, I just (have to) take it and move forward.”

He explained the niggle, which he felt in the semi-final. “My leg has been bothering me. I couldn’t find the power in my leg to do what I want. So when I reached the middle of the race, I just couldn’t push the way I wanted to,” Blake explained.

Blake, who won silver medals in both 100m and 200m at the London 2012 games behind Usain Bolt, spoke of his next move. “I’m going to sit and evaluate and see what I am doing next.”

He has a message for his fans. “Thank you for the support. I know you guys are probably disappointed, but I am disappointed myself.”
“…I am just going back to the drawing board and keep on working,” he said while adding, “never down for too long.”
