According to the Daily Nation, American sprinter Justin Gatlin hasn’t made any concrete plans about his future.
Gatlin, who is 39 years old, won the Athens 2004 Olympic Games 100m title under the guidance of coach Trevon Graham. He also won world titles – Helsinki 2005 and London 2017.
Overall he won five Olympic Games medals and a 12 at the World Championship level. He also won titles indoors in 2003 and 2012 to add to his Diamond League trophies in 2013, 2014 and 2015.
He, however, failed to make the USA team to last summer’s Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. He returned on the circuit but is yet to make an impact.
“I came from an injury with the hope of getting a win here. Hopefully, let’s wait and see what’s in store for the new season,” Justin Gatlin said.
In his last outing, last Saturday (18 Sept), Gatlin finished third in the men’s 100m with 10.03 at the Kip Keino Classic in Nairobi, Kenya.
Trayvon Bromell, who led the world with the fastest 100m time, bettered his mark with a 9.76. Ferdinand Omanyala finished second in 9.77.
Eugene in the USA will host the 2022 World Athletics Championships, and Gatlin fancied his chance, just like many other Americans.
Justin Gatlin’s personal best of 9.74 seconds is the fifth-best all-time.
