Shericka Jackson describes 2021 as ‘incredible journey’

Shericka Jackson is singing “praises to God” after ending a magnificent 2021 track and field season, which brought her several milestones.

“All praise to God,” Jackson wrote on Instagram.

Jackson, a known quarter-miler, switched to short sprints this year and went on to win bronze in the 100m at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. Elaine Thompson-Herah won gold ahead of fellow Jamaican Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce.

She also achieved sub-10.8-second and sub-22-second personal bests in the 100m and 200m respectively at the Jamaica Olympic Trials and then improved to 10.76s in the former distance at the 2020 Olympics. Her 21.82 personal best 200m time came in the Diamond League Trophy battle she lost to Christine Mboma.

Shericka Jackson anchored Jamaica to gold in the 4x100m in Tokyo.

The Rio 2016 Olympic Games 400m bronze medallist, who pocketed the event’s same colour medals at the World Championships in Beijing 2015 and Doha 2019, is also a 49.47 400m runner.

The former Vere star won over 40 medals for Jamaica from Carifta Games, World Youth, World U20, World Championships and Olympic Games.
