TUCSON, USA (Apr 29) – Mouhamadou Fall of France was the standout performer at the Desert Heat Classic, taking home two gold medals with impressive times in the men’s 100m and 200m races.
Fall finished the 100m in 10.12 (+0.8) and the 200m in 20.24 (+0.5). Micah Williams of the United States pushed Fall to the limit in the 100m, finishing just 0.01 seconds behind with a time of 10.13.
Meanwhile, Ryan Zeze of France secured third place in the 200m with a time of 20.30.
The French national team had a successful outing at the Desert Heat Classic, dominating the men’s 4x100m relay with a time of 38.83. Nawal Meniker also shone for France, setting a new personal best in the women’s high jump by clearing a height of 1.93m.
In the men’s 400m races, Sean Bailey of the United States won the first heat with a time of 44.93. However, the second heat produced the biggest surprise of the day, as Dubem Nwachukwu, a 23-year-old American runner, improved his personal best by over a second, finishing with a time of 44.91.
Dave King of Great Britain claimed victory in the men’s 110m hurdles with a time of 13.68 (-0.6). Meanwhile, Cass Elliott set a new personal best in the men’s 400m hurdles with a time of 49.26. Turner Washington won both the men’s shot put and discus events, recording distances of 20.13m and 64.98m, respectively.
Deshae Wise won women’s 400m hurdles 55.69, and in the shot put, Jaida Ross 18.13m beat Dutch Jorinde van Klinken, 18.02m.
