Abigail Campbell wins U17 400m at Carifta Games

Three of the biggest names in Jamaica’s high school track and field have joined Hydel Eagles for the upcoming season.

The three are Abigail Campbell from Ferncourt, Camoy Binger and Olivia St. John, both from St. Jago.

In announcing the trio, Hydel wrote on social media, “You either win with us, or you watch us win.” – DJ Khaled ‘22.

Welcome, Eagles!”

Campbell was a silver medalist in the Cali 2022 World Under-20 Championships. She teamed up with Dejanea Oakley, Oneika McAnuff and Alliah Baker to take Jamaica to a season-best 3:31.59 for second behind the USA, who ran 3:28.06 to win the gold medal in the 4×400-meter relay.

Campbell, who also won the Class 2 girls’ 400 meter at Champs as well as the Carifta Games Under-17 title, will join McAnuff and Baker at Hydel.

Binger won the Class 3 girls’ 80-meter hurdles and finished second in the 100 meters final at Champs 2022. St. John is a 100/200-meter sprinter.
