Williams, Davis set for super showdowns at Florida State Champs

Briana Williams and Tamari Davis, Florida’s two top teenage sprinters, are down to face-off over 100m and 200m on Saturday’s (5 May) final day of their State High School Championships.

On Friday, Williams of Northeast, easily won her heat of the girls’ 3A 100m dash in 11.63s, running against a negative -0.5m/s wind. Kaytie Black, Williams’ teammate, was second in 12.06.

Williams’ main rival, Tamari Davis, representing Gainesville, ran the fastest time of the day to top her heat in 11.64s. Dianisy Bolden of Largo was second in the heat with 11.91s, which had a negative -1/7m/s wind.

Also in the 200m, Davis’ 23.53s is the best time going into the final. Williams, however, was comfortable in qualifying in 23.80s.
Jan’Taijah Ford, also of Northeast, was the only other athlete to go below 24s with 23.99s

Williams has personal best times of 11.13 and 23.11 while Davis’ PBs are 11.29 and 23.06
