Christopher Taylor continued his dominance on the boys’ one lap event, but Holmwood Technical’s Rickiann Russell was in record form at Saturday’s Digicel Grand Prix final.
Russell covered the National Stadium track in Kingston in 54.41 to take the top spot in the Under-17 girls’ event.
The mark erased the 54.59 set by St. Jago’s Joanne Reid in 2017.
Digicel will pay $25,000 for each championship record and $50,000 for each national junior record.
Taylor topped the Under-19 boys’ final in 45.92, way ahead of Maneesh Vassell of Rhodes Hall and Bovel McPherson, both accredited with 48.02.
In the girls’ Under-19 section, Charokee Young came away the winner in 53.42 ahead of Cjay White of Rhodes, 48.45.
Calabar’s Elvado Whitehorne took the boys’ Under-17 section in 47.93.
