Jamaica set for eight-team showdown at Armory Invitational

Jamaica will again be represented at next weekend’s (January 25-27) Armory Invitational in New York.

Jamaica will join USA, Canada, France, Trinidad, Guyana, Cayman Island and Grenada at the indoor meet.

President of the JAAA Dr. Warren Blake and General Secretary Garth Gayle will also attend the meet.

Jamaica men’s team on the 4x200m two years ago while the women’s team finished atop the podium in 2017.

Jamaica will compete in the 4×200 relay for both men and women.

The Women’s team comprise of Yanique Ellington, Shavine Hodges, Verone Chambers, Shaniqua Walker and Kaitlin Whitehorn

Ellington and Hodges are returning from last year’s team.

On the men’s side,
Colin King, Germaine Brown, Kavon Rattray, Stallone Watson and Kevin Thompson are the athletes.

Coach Dalton Evans who has put the teams together for the past three years is a Jamaica national coach and a former college head coach in the USA. He has appointed Louie Grant as manager for the team.

Coach Evans said: “I am very optimistic that both teams will do well.”
