Tyriq Hosford of Trinidad and Tobago won boys’ under-18 javelin title on Sunday’s 44th Carifta Games opening session held at the Silver Jubilee Stadium in Basseterre, St. Kitts.
Hosford threw 70.73 metres for a new championship record. Jamaica’s Kevin Nedrick finished second with 65.09m.
IN the girls’ under20 shot put, Portious Warren of Trinidad & Tobago took the top spot with 15.22m.
BVI’s Trevia Gumbs was second with 14.83m.
Jamaica’s Ayesha Champagnie leads the girl’s opening heptathlon after topping the long jump 5.43m and javelin 44.37m.
Shakiel Chattoo, also of Jamaica, leads the boys open octathlon. He won the 110m hurdles and finished second in the high jump with 1.94.
