Grant Holloway ran a stunning 12.81, narrowly missing out on the men’s 110m hurdles world record by one-hundredth of a second at the US Olympic Trials on Saturday (26 June).

The mark, which came in the semi-finals, is a world lead, meet record. American Aries Merritt holds’ the world record of 12.80.

Later in the final, Holloway was slower but secured an easy win in 12.96. He is now the only sprint hurdler this season to break 13 seconds. Jamaican Omar McLeod had the previous world lead of 13.01.
