Olympic champion Usain Bolt fights to recover $12 million from SSL

Usain Bolt, the Jamaican sprint legend, has reaffirmed his love for his country despite the current turmoil, including the Stocks and Securities Limited (SSL) investment firm scandal, which saw his account Fleeced of more than US$12 million. 

According to reports, Bolt’s account had a balance of over US$12 million at the end of October 2022, but by the end of the year, only US$12,000 remained.

During a speech Friday at the Gibson McCook Relays launch, Bolt made it clear that no matter what happens, Jamaica will always be his country, and he will always love it.

“No matter what’s going on right now, Jamaica is my country, and that will never change,” Bolt declared. “I will always love my country and will do everything in my power to uplift this country no matter what’s going on.”  

Bolt has been an active advocate for Jamaica, using his platform as a world-class athlete to promote the country’s culture and heritage. 

He has also been involved in several business ventures, including a restaurant, and he has been named a global ambassador for the sport of athletics. Despite the financial losses, Bolt remains committed to supporting Jamaica and its people.
