American two-time Olympic Games gold medalist Natasha Hastings has called time on her track and field career.
In announcing her decision, the Beijing 2008 and Rio 2016 Olympic Games 4×400-meter relay gold medalist said: “I’m 36 now – a mom, a graduate student. It’s time to move on. I feel it in my heart.
I’m good with it.”

Hastings won five 4×400-meter relay gold medals for the USA in Osaka 2007, Berlin 2009, Daegu 2011, Moscow 2013, and London 2017, missing out only in Beijing 2005 when Jamaica won the gold.
Her only individual success at the world level came with a bronze in the 400 meters at the Istanbul 2012 World Indoor Championships.
Jamaican Veronica Campbell-Brown and American Allyson Felix, two of the most decorated sprinters in athletics history, praised Hastings’ contribution to the sport. “One amazing chapter ends, another one begins. All the best with everything,” Campbell-Brown said.
Felix was also complimentary. “Congratulations on an incredible career! Excited for all you do next. Thanks for all you have given this sport. Enjoyed competing alongside you.”
