Several North American, Central American and Caribbean Athletic Association (NACAC) Area athletes are down to compete at the inaugural Bermuda Invitational meet this weekend.

President of the Bermuda National Athletics Association (BNAA), Donna Raynor, told TrackAlerts.com “the athletes are coming from our NACAC region (USA, Canada, Jamaica, Cayman, Puerto Rico, Trinidad & Tobago, Bahamas and Barbados).”

Raynor was happy to point out that many of the country’s top athletes have also been confirmed for the meet, set for Friday, April 22.

Olympian, Tyrone Smith, three times (2011, 2012, & 2013) Bermuda's Athlete of the Year, will compete in the men’s long jump. He competed at the 2008 World Indoor Championships and the 2008 Olympic Games, but failed to make the final. He represented his country at the 2010 Commonwealth Games. He reached the final of the 2012 Olympic Games.

Michael Hartfield, who finished third in the 2013 NCAA men’s long jump, will also be in the field.

 Jamaica’s Pan Am and Commonwealth Games finalist, Saniel Atkinson-Gier and Canadian Emma Kimoto will contest the women’s high jump.

Trinidad and Tobago’s, Jamaal James, faces hometown boy, Aaron Evans, in the men’s 800m event.

Barbadian Sade Sealy, Antigua and Barbuda’s Samantha Edwards, and Bahamian Lanece Clarke, will face-off in the women’s 400m.

Americans, Taylor Evans, Dominique Booker and Cierra White will line-up in the women’s 100m.

President Raynor said they are still awaiting flight confirmation before they sign off on several other athletes.

The meet will also feature a development section for the country’s young talents.

“We will be featuring a couple of our junior athletes in the Long Jump (Bruce Degrilla and Ethan Philip) and Sakari Famous (bronze medal at Carifta) in the High Jump,” said Raynor.
