Hansle Parchment created perhaps the biggest upset of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games so far

tokyo 2020 alertsHansle Parchment created perhaps the biggest upset of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games so far. Parchment defeated the overwhelming favourite, USA’s Grant Holloway, in the men’s 110m hurdles final.

Parchment, who secured his first global title and Jamaica’s men first gold of the games, got off to a usually slow start but had a blistering second half.

Holloway got off to a fast start, but a super second half from Parchment was enough. He caught Holloway on the final hurdle and pulled away to stop the clock in a season’s best 13.04 seconds.

Holloway clocked 13.09 seconds while Ronald Levy secured the bronze medal in 13.10 seconds.

Usain Bolt, Jamaica’s eight-time Olympic Games champion, described Parchment’s effort as “brilliant stuff”

Omar McLeod, the Rio 2016 Olympic Games champion, sent a congratulatory message. “Big congrats to Hansle Parchment and Ronald Levy!  The crown stays home,” said McLeod

Parchment won bronze in the event at the London 2012 games.
