Noah Lyles finishes third in tight men's 60m race at Austin meet

The RADD College Invitational in Gainesville, Florida, was filled with thrilling track and field action, but one of the most highly-anticipated events was the men’s 60m final. The field, including Noah Lyles, was stacked with some of the top sprinters in the nation, including Noah Lyles of Adidas.

As the runners took their starting positions, the tension in the stadium was palpable. When the gun went off, the athletes flew out of the blocks, but Kendal Williams of TciSports took an early lead. Josephus Lyles of Adidas and his brother Noah Lyles of Adidas were close behind but couldn’t catch up.

Williams took first place with a time of 6.59 seconds, Josephus Lyles in second place with a time of 6.60 seconds, and Noah Lyles just behind in third place with a time of 6.61 seconds.

Earlier in the preliminary round, the men’s 60m event indicated the exciting competition to come. Kendal Williams of TciSports set the pace in the preliminary round by winning heat 1 in 6.67 seconds, securing his spot in the final as the top qualifier.

Josephus Lyles of Adidas and Noah Lyles of Adidas, who are brothers, also qualified for the final, with Josephus finishing taking heat 5 in 6.72 seconds and Noah, the heat two winner, in 6.74 seconds.

In the women’s event, Celera Barnes of Sports Management & Marketing crossed the finish line in first place with a time of 7.30 seconds, setting a new personal best. Cassie Thompson of Jacksonville took second in 7.48 seconds, while Cara Simpson of Florida Atlantic finished third in 7.52 seconds.

Mac Franks won the men’s 800m in 1:51.68, and Jessica Lambert of Florida Atlantic, 2:06.98, the women’s crown.

Latasha Dodson of Team Dodson Elite topped the women’s 60m hurdles in 8.90 ahead of Tenae Grigsby of Southeastern University, 9.05.

Davonte Vanterpool of Southeastern University won the men’s 60m hurdles in 8.00, beating his teammate Glenn Rodgers in 8.08.
