Aleia Hobbs Takes First Place in Women's 60m Final at LSU Purple Tiger Meet

The LSU Purple Tiger track and field meet on January 13, 2023, showcased some of the best talents in the region. The event, held at LSU’s Bernie Moore Track Stadium, featured athletes from various schools and programs, including LSU, Southern University, Hinds CC, and more.

In the women’s 60m final, Aleia Hobbs of Tiger Olympians took first place with a time of 7.12 seconds, followed by Mikiah Brisco of Tiger Olympians, 7.19 seconds, and Symone Mason, also of Tiger Olympians, 7.39.

The men’s 60m final was equally as exciting, with Da’Marcus Fleming of LSU taking first place with a time of 6.73 seconds. Godson Oghenebrume of LSU came in second with 6.74 seconds, and Elliott Cummings of New Orleans took third with 6.78.

The women’s 200m race was won by Taliya Spurlock of Mississippi Valley with 26.11 seconds ahead of Nadia Thomas of Southern in second place with 26.30 seconds and Ann Dangha of Alcorn State in third place with a time of 26.65 seconds.

The men’s 200m race was won by Christian Williams of Hinds CC with a time of 22.91 seconds, followed by Terry Simmons of Mississippi Valley in second place with a time of 22.98 seconds, and Keandre Fultz of SE Louisiana in third place with a time of 23.32 seconds.

Amanda Radava of ULM took first place in the women’s 800m, crossing the finish line in 2:16.13. Camille Lewis of Southern took second place with a time of 2:23.44. Skylar Delgado of Louisiana took third place in 2:23.64.

Jacob Meek of Louisiana won the men’s 800m race with a time of 1:59.07, followed by Rashid Reese of Louisiana at 2:00.56.

Leah Phillips of LSU won the women’s 60m hurdles in 8.16 seconds. She beat Shani’a Bellamy of LSU, 8.39 seconds, and Kennedy London of Louisiana, 8.81 seconds.

In the men’s 60m hurdles, Matthew Sophia of LSU took first place with 7.76 seconds ahead of Yves Cherubin, 7.90, and Jordan Thompson of Southern, 7.92 seconds.

In the women’s 400m, Kaylin Robinson of Hinds CC took first place with 59.51 seconds, Daja Maxey took second place with a time of 1:00.51, and Ann Dangha of Alcorn State took third place with a time of 1:00.81.

The men’s 400m race was won by Jah’Vaunni Wheeler of Hinds CC with a time of 49.34 seconds, followed by Dapriest Hogans of Hinds CC in second place with a time of 50.05 seconds, and Braylin Demars of Hinds CC in third place with a time of 50.19 seconds.

Jeremy Nelson of Louisiana won the men’s triple jump with 15.97 meters, followed by Rylan Theyard of Louisiana with 15.44 meters.
