OXFORD – For the first time in six years, a Mississippi State Bulldog claimed gold in the men’s 800-meter race. Navasky Anderson’s 1:45.89 winning run became not only a new personal record, but a new facility record as well.

Navasky Anderson, a former St. Jago student, Sam Whitmarsh of Texas A&M, second in a personal best 1:46.09 and Clayborn Pender of Georgia, 1:47.71, also a personal best effort.
Navasky Anderson made it to the final with the third best time of 1:47.16 behind leader Sam Whitmarsh of Texas A&M, 1:46.20.
Earlier in the day, Jhordyn Stallworth extended her school record mark in the women’s discus. Her record-breaking performance secured a fifth-place finish for MSU in the event.
Rosealee Cooper (sixth – women’s 100mH), Sydney Steely (eighth – women’s 800m) and Leon Clarke/Lee Eppie/Gabriel Moronta/Tyrese Reid (sixth – men’s 4x400m) were the remaining Dawgs to score points for the Maroon and White on the final day of the Championships.
State’s women’s program finished the three-day meet with 22 team points (14th), whereas the men’s side finished with 32 team points (11th).
