Former Alpha Academy athlete Kiara Grant is Jamaica’s new junior 100m record holder.

The Norfolk State University sophomore ran 11.11 seconds to erase the previous mark of 11.12 held by Veronica Campbell-Brown, set back in 2000.

Grant finished second in the Mid East Athletics Conference Outdoor Championship final on May 4, 2019. Kayla White, a senior at North Carolina A&T, won the event in 10.96s.

She ran 11.07 backed by a +3.4m/s wind in the heats.
