GLASGOW (GBR): Guy Learmonth has been voted by his fellow athletes as captain of the British team for the European Indoor Championships in Glasgow from 1-3 March.
AMSTERDAM (NED): Dafne Schippers is an injury doubt for the European Indoor Championships after falling down some stairs in her home last weekend, informs NOS. Schippers will travel to Glasgow with the Dutch team on Wednesday and will make a decision on whether to compete on Friday.
BRUSSELS (BEL): Former European indoor champion Eline Berings from Belgium has pulled out of the 60m hurdles due to injury. “Unfortunately I need to withdraw from the European Indoor champs due to an injury. Recovery should be smooth, so I’ll get ready for summer,” she said on social media.
ZURICH (SUI): Glasgow bound Swiss 60 m hurdler Tobias Furer confirmed he will end his career after the European Indoor Championships.
DARMSTADT (GER): Hanna Klein and Gregor Traber have both pulled out of the German team for the European Indoor Championships. Klein has scratched from the 1500m due to illness while Traber has pulled out of the 60m hurdles due to a muscular problem.
WARSZAWA (POL): Jakub Krzewina is out of Polish 4×400 m relay team due to an injury. Poland will so only have four runners available with Karol Zalewski, Dariusz Kowaluk, Tymoteusz Zimny and Rafał Omelko.
ROMA (ITA): Italian 400 m runner Michele Tricca will not compete individually in Glasgow due to a flu. But his goal is to recover on time for the 4×400 m relay on Sunday.
ZURICH (SUI): World U20 800m and 1500m bronze medallist Delia Sclabas will only contest the 800m at the European Indoor Championships, informs Swiss Athletics.
VIENNA (AUT): Top medal hope for Austrian team is Ivona Dadic in pentathlon. “In all events I saw positive improvement. I think Im in shape to attack my personal best. I think in this points range will be 2-3 other athletes, so a medal is my goal. But i already have the silver, that makes it clear I would be happy to be on top,” she said.
