TOKYO, Japan – Christian Coleman in the 100m, Michael Norman in the 400m, Isiah Jewett in the 800m, Rai Benjamin in the 400m hurdles, Lynna Irby in the 200m and Kendra Harrison in the 100m hurdles are the US stars for the Seiko Golden Grand Prix in Tokyo on Sunday (WACT Gold).

Also in the Seiko Golden Grand Prix women’s 100m hurdles is Olympic bronze medalist Megan Tapper from Jamaica. Kelsey-Lee Barber is in javelin against Japanese record holder Haruka Kitaguchi. Yoshihide Kiryu cancelled the 100m due to an injury.

Meanwhile, On Friday night at Prefontaine Classic, Joshua Cheptegei will take a run at his 5000m world record of 12:35.36, and on Saturday an elite field of men will assemble to earn points towards their Diamond League rankings.
Saturday’s Wanda Diamond League men’s 5,000m field is highlighted by the Canadian record holder Mo Ahmed. The two-time Olympic medalist Paul Chelimo will also return to the Pre Classic. Selemon Barega, the 2019 World Championship silver medalist, is also featured in the field. At the Olympic games last summer, the Ethiopian took down the world record-holder Cheptegei to capture gold in the 10,000m.
Briton Marc Scott will also run with Olympic 10 000 m bronze medalist Jacob Kiplimo along with Olympic finalist Luis Grijalva, first-place finisher at the Ethiopian Trials Getnet Wale, the 2021 Wanda Diamond League Champion Berihu Aregawi, the New Zealand indoor record holder George Beamish, and 2016 Rio Olympic 5,000m bronze medalist Hagos Gebrhiwet. Matthew Ramsden, Bethwell Birgen and Brett Robinson round out the field.
