Boldon has been Williams’ mentor and coach for the past ten years. Both coach and athlete agreed with the move from Florida to Kingston.
“From the beginning, she and I knew I’d have to hand her off to someone who could coach her full-time, and as she turns 21 soon, now is the time,” Boldon said via SportsMax.
Under Boldon’s guidance, Williams won the sprint double at the Tampere 2018 World Under-20 Championships. She also won three gold medals at 100, 200 and 4×100 meters in the Under-17 category at the Carifta Games in 2018. The following year, in 2019, she won all three gold medals at the Under-20 level.
She has personal best times of 10.94 this year and 22.50 achieved in 2018.
“I have to thank coach Ato for how much he has done for me and my career. He will always be a father figure to me,” said Williams.
“I’m excited about this new chapter and happy to be training in Jamaica,” she added.
