KINGSTON, Jamaica – Sport Minister the Honourable Olivia ‘Babsy’ Grange, today, disclosed that the appointment of all boards in the Government’s sports sector have now been completed with Cabinet’s approval of the new Board of Directors for the Institute of Sports (INSPORTS) on Monday, June 13, 2016.
According to Minister Grange, the board of Independent Park Limited (IPL), Sports Development Foundation (SDF) and the Jamaica Anti-Doping Commission (JADCO) have all had their first meetings and are fully operational.
“These boards were carefully selected and have a good mixture of technocrats and practitioners who I believe have the growth and development of Jamaica’s sporting sector at the helm of their agenda. I have charged IPL to, among other things, further promote Jamaica’s rich sporting legacy and ensure that all decisions made will aid in maximizing the benefits derived from our superb performances in various sporting disciplines, which will ultimately position us to reap economic benefits,” Minister Grange said.
She also noted that all boards including, INSPORTS, JADCO and SDF will be charged with the responsibility of ensuring good governance and accountability.

Minister Grange also indicated that Cabinet has approved the recommendations for the members of the Independent Anti-Doping Disciplinary Panel, the Anti-Doping Appeal Tribunal and the National Council on Sport. She noted that the names of these individuals will soon be released.
