Three-time Olympic sprint medallist, Andre De Grasse, will later this month formally announce the establishment of the Andre De Grasse Family Foundation.
The announcement is expected to be made during the OFSAA Central Region Track & Field Championships at the Toronto Track & Field Centre on the campus of York University on Thursday, May 31.
In addition to outlining the vision of his namesake Foundation, the Markham, Ont., native and University of Southern California educated sprint sensation will reveal details of the Foundation’s first signature program at a venue that holds great significance to him.
Andre De Grasse talent was spotted by coach Tony Sharpe
The Metro Track & Field Centre is where Andre’s natural talent was first identified by coach Tony Sharpe, himself a member of Canada’s bronze medal-winning 1984 Olympic 4 x 100-metre relay team.
With the support and guidance of Sharpe and countless others, De Grasse returned to York University three years later winning two gold medals at the Toronto 2015 Pan American Games. In just his third season as a professional athlete, Andre is excited to pay it forward.
