In only her second 300m race, Steiner clocked in at 35.54 seconds, easily surpassing Quanera Hayes’ previous record of 35.71 set in 2017.
Steiner faced a fierce competition from Brittany Brown, who ran a time of 36.13, but Steiner’s exceptional talent and perseverance allowed her to hold her lead and claim the record.
“It’s definitely one of those races I think you learn a little bit about every time you run it,” Steiner said, reflecting on her performance. This was also her last 300m race of the season, but Steiner’s hunger for success is far from satisfied.
She has set her sights on the world record of 35.45, held by Shaunae Miller-Uibo and Irina Privalova. “I clean up my start a little bit,” Steiner said, “and I think it’s there.”
The athletic community is eager to see what Steiner will achieve next, and her impressive performance at the Millrose Games has established her as a top contender in the world of athletics.
Steiner’s record-breaking 300m race at the Millrose Games has made history and solidified her position as one of the favorites for the world 200m title this summer. Jamaica’s Shericka Jackson is the defending world 200m champion.
