Brianna Lyston is a freshman at Louisiana State University (LSU) and a talented sprinter who recently qualified as the fastest in the qualifying round of the college women's 60m dash at the 2023 Tyson Invitational.

In a field filled with talented sprinters, LSU Freshman Brianna Lyston stood out at the 2023 Tyson Invitational, setting a personal best time of 7.29 seconds to win the first heat of the college women’s 60m dash in the Randal Tyson Track Center on Friday, 10 February.

Lyston’s performance, which beat her previous mark of 7.32 set just last week at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic, earned her the title of quickest qualifier heading into the semi-final.

Jasmine Montgomery of Florida was close behind, clocking 7.36 secs to secure second place in the semi-final and the title of second quickest qualifier.

Also moving on to the next round of the women’s 60m were Ariane Linton of Arkansas (7.37), Lasarah Hargrove (7.40) of Iowa, Yoveinny Mota of Arkansas (7.40), Thelma Davies (7.41) of LSU, and Lynelle Washington (7.41) of Northwestern State.

On the men’s side, Nazzio John of Butler County CC set the fastest time with a personal best of 6.65 secs, winning the opening heat of the event. Other notable qualifiers included Shaun Maswanganyi of Houston (6.67), Little Rock’s Cameron Jackson (6.69), and Florida’s Jacory Patterson (6.70).
