Omar McLeod breaks Jamaica 200m indoor record

Jamaica’s Omar McLeod is a man on fire this season. The world indoor 60m hurdles and 110m Olympic champion, on the heels of his NYRR Millrose games outing where he blazed to victory in 7.46 seconds in the 60m hurdles, has again etched his name in the record books.

McLeod is Jamaica’s new national indoor record holder for the 200m after producing a blistering run of 20.48 seconds to beat Marqueze Washington, Unattached, 20.56 at Friday’s (17 Feb) Arkansas Qualifier held in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

The previous record 20.52 was set by Omar Brown, the husband of Veronica Campbell-Brown, back in 2005.

McLeod’s run came ninety minutes after setting a new PB of 6.61 seconds in the 60m.
