World and Olympic champion Omar McLeod won the men’s 110m hurdles at the Birmingham Diamond League on Sunday (18 Aug).

McLeod, who is hoping to defend his world title in Doha next month, won the event in 13.21 seconds. The wind was -0.2m/s.

“It was pretty easy and felt good,” commented McLeod.

“It was nice to make up for what happened in London. I’m in a new environment with a new coach and I feel like I’m ready to go again.

“For Doha, I need to go there in the best possible shape and not been half-bothered about it. Anything can happen and I need to go there as defending champion and be ready to compete,” said McLeod.

“I have the Diamond League finals prior to Doha so I need to be ready for that,” he concluded.

American Freddie Crittenden finished second in 13.31 (season-best), while Chinese Wenjun Xie crossed the line third in 13.43.
