World Youth 100m bronze medallist Kevona Davis has withdrawn from Jamaica’s Carifta Games team.

Davis, the Under-17 100m champion, pulled out of the meet because of a “sore hamstring”

Edwin ’s coach Michael Dyke confirmed Davis’ withdrawal, noting ”Kevona has a sore hamstring  and the physiotherapist advised it’s in her best interest to rest.”

Davis was in top form at last week’s Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Championships. After running 11.35 and 22.92 in the heats of the 100/200m class 2 sprints, she closed the show with 11.16 and 22.72, both makes are Jamaica Youth records, in the finals.

Dyke described the situation as “very unfortunate” while noting “she has a bigger picture, the World Under 20 Championships to think about later this year.”

Jamaica’s team leaves for the Carifta Games in Nassau, Bahamas Thursday, 29 March and returns on April 3.
