Briana Williams for Carifta Games 2019

Briana Williams answered Kiara Grant’s 11.04 national junior record with 11.02 at today’s Great Southwest Classic.

Williams’ time, which was in a legal wind of .8m/s, came less than an hour after Grant’s 11.04 at the NCAA National Championship in Texas.

Sha’Carri Richardson of LSU blazed to 10.75 world junior record to take the women’s 100m title ahead of Kayla White of North Carolina 10.95.

Last May, Grant, a former Alpha Academy athlete ran 11.11 seconds to erase Veronica Campbell-Brown’s old mark of 11.12 set back in 2000.

However, two weeks ago, Williams, who is the World U20 sprint double champion, stopped the clock in 11.10 seconds (0.2m/s) to break Grant’s mark.
