Jamaica’s Robinson Earns Podium Finish at 2026 Diamond League Stockholm

Nia Robinson was Jamaica’s best performer at the 2026 Wanda Diamond League BAUHAUS-Galan in Stockholm, Sweden on Sunday, landing a jump of 6.80 meters to secure third place in the women’s long jump at Olympic Stadium.

The long jump came down to the final round. France’s Hilary Kpatcha sealed the win with a last-attempt leap of 6.85 meters, pushing Italy’s Larissa Iapichino, who had led for most of the competition at 6.84 meters, into second. Nia Robinson’s 6.80 meters held up for third, adding another strong result to what is becoming a steady run of performances on the circuit.

Olympic discus champion Roje Stona also competed for Jamaica, reaching 66.42 meters for fourth place in the men’s discus. Sweden’s Daniel Ståhl took the event with a season’s best of 69.60 meters, ahead of Australia’s Matthew Denny at 69.02 and Slovenia’s Kristjan Čeh at 67.67.

Danniel Thomas-Dodd placed sixth in the women’s shot put with a best of 18.56 meters. Jessica Schilder of the Netherlands set a meeting record of 20.89 meters to win, with Chase Jackson of the United States second at 19.91 and Canada’s Sarah Mitton third at 19.89.

Assinie Wilson finished seventh in the men’s 400 meters hurdles in 49.13 seconds. Brazil’s world champion Alison Dos Santos controlled the race from start to finish, winning in 47.11 seconds.

Trinidad and Tobago’s Jereem Richards brought additional Caribbean presence to the meet, running a season’s best 44.87 seconds for third in the men’s 400 meters. South Africa’s Zakithi Nene won in 44.48, and American Jacory Patterson placed second in 44.69.

World champion Melissa Jefferson-Wooden of the United States took the women’s 100 meters, clocking a season’s best 10.84 seconds with a wind reading of plus-0.8 meters per second. Britain’s Amy Hunt ran a personal best 10.97 for second, and Luxembourg’s Patrizia van der Weken finished third in 11.05.

Kenneth Bednarek of the United States won the men’s 200 meters in 19.87 seconds. South Africa’s Sinesipho Dambile placed second in 20.10, and American Courtney Lindsey took third in 20.24.

Switzerland’s Audrey Werro delivered the standout performance of the afternoon in the women’s 800 meters, breaking the Diamond League record with 1:53.98. Olympic champion Keely Hodgkinson of Britain finished second in a national record of 1:54.33.

Australia’s Kurtis Marschall cleared 5.90 meters to upset world record holder Armand Duplantis on his home track in the men’s pole vault. Duplantis cleared 5.80 meters for second place.

Tunisia’s Marwa Bouzayani set a meeting record of 8:59.28 in the women’s 3,000 meters steeplechase, while Morocco’s Soufiane El Bakkali won the men’s race in 8:10.40. American Yared Nuguse edged the men’s 1,500 meters in 3:30.11, with Australia’s Cameron Myers second in 3:30.32 and Kenya’s Timothy Cheruiyot third in 3:30.67.

The 2026 Wanda Diamond League continues next Thursday in Oslo.
