Miramar Invitational Sees Record-Breaking Performances and Tight Races

Kenny Bednarek beat Christian Coleman, while Sada Williams, Britton Wilson, Chase Jackson, and Tyler Mason were among the winners at the Miramar Invitational held at Ansin Sports Complex in Miramar, FL, on Saturday (6 April).

Bednarek’s victory in the men’s 200m, clocking in at 20.35 seconds, was a highlight of the event, narrowly outpacing fellow American Christian Coleman who finished in 20.43 seconds. ALSO CHECK OUT – Miramar Invitational 2024 Results

In the women’s 200m, Sada Williams of Barbados triumphed with a leading time of 22.82 seconds, followed by Denmark’s Ida Karstoft at 23.01 seconds and the USA’s Kynnedy Flannel at 23.31 seconds.

The women’s 400m was dominated by Britton Wilson of the United States, who finished first in 51.07 seconds, with Shamier Little (USA) and Zoe Sherar (CAN) placing second and third, posting times of 51.41 and 51.63 seconds, respectively.

The shot put event witnessed an impressive throw by Chase Jackson of the United States, who set a meet record (MR) with a mark of 19.88 meters (65-2 ¾), surpassing Maggie Ewen (USA) and Danniel Thomas-Dodd (JAM), who threw 18.95 meters (62-2 ¼) and 18.72 meters (61-5), respectively.

The men’s 400m was a close contest, with Alonzo Russell of the Bahamas finishing first in 45.35 seconds, just ahead of Alex Ogando of the Dominican Republic and Wendell Miller of the Bahamas, who posted times of 45.36 and 46.00 seconds respectively.

In the women’s 100m, Melissa Jefferson of the United States took the top spot with a time of 11.19 seconds, ahead of Destiny Smith-Barnett (USA) and English Gardner (USA), who clocked in at 11.28 and 11.33 seconds.

The men’s 100m was a nail-biter, with Courtney Lindsey of the USA and Ackeem Blake of Jamaica both finishing in 10.28 seconds, but Lindsey was declared the winner. Andre Ewers of Jamaica secured third place with a time of 10.43 seconds.

Shafiqua Maloney of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines won the women’s 600m with a new national record of 1:23.80 seconds, beating Sadi Henderson (USA) and Ajee Wilson (USA), who finished in 1:27.81 and 1:27.86 seconds.

Isaiah Jewett of the United States won the men’s 600m in 1:16.16 seconds, outpacing Ryan Sanchez of Puerto Rico and Hazem Miawad of Egypt, who posted 1:16.67 and 1:17.56 seconds.

Tyler Mason Leads Winners’ Circle at Miramar Invitational in Florida

Alaysha Johnson (USA) triumphed in the women’s 100m hurdles with a time of 12.80 seconds, closely followed by Cindy Sember (GBR) and Amber Hughes (USA), who finished in 12.83 and 12.94 seconds. In the men’s 110m hurdles, Tyler Mason of Jamaica took first place with a time of 13.57 seconds. Close on his heels were Eric Edwards of the United States, who finished in 13.60 seconds, and Andrew Pozzi of Great Britain, clocking in at 13.63 seconds.

In the men’s 400m hurdles, David Kendziera of the USA set another meet record of 49.65 seconds, with Yeral Nunez (DOM) and Eric Cray (PHI) completing the podium in 49.69 and 50.18 seconds.

The women’s long jump was won by Taliyah Brooks of the USA with a leap of 6.38 meters (20-11 ¼), while Chanice Porter (JAM) and Alysbeth Felix-Boyer (PUR) followed closely with jumps of 6.36 meters (20-10 ½) and 6.28 meters (20-7 ¼).

Demarcus Simpson of the USA dominated the men’s long jump, recording a season-best of 7.86 meters (25-9 ½). Jason Smith (USA) and Will Williams (USA) were not far behind, jumping 7.63 meters (25-0 ½) and 7.62 meters (25-0).
