At the 63rd MtSAC Relays held in Walnut, USA, on April 15th, a number of athletes demonstrated their world-class abilities, with some setting personal bests and national records. Vashti Cunningham, a high jumper from the United States, managed to equal the world-leading mark in the women’s high jump event by clearing a height of 1.98m.

This was an impressive achievement and helped her to beat nearest competitor, Lamara Distin, who managed to clear a height of 1.93m.
Camryn Rogers, a hammer thrower from Canada, also put in an impressive performance, setting a new world lead for the event with a throw of 77.84. This was a national record for Canada and helped Rogers establish herself as one of the top competitors in the event.
In the discus event, Jorinde van Klinken, a European shot put medalist, managed to win the competition with a throw of 64.45. This was an impressive achievement and put her ahead of her nearest competitor, Laulauga Tausaga-Collins, who managed to throw 62.74.
Josie Schaefer, an American shot putter, also managed to improve on her previous performances, setting a personal best with a throw of 18.98. This was enough to secure her victory in the event, with Zhang Linru from China finishing in second place with a throw of 18.68.
Other notable performances included Mikeisha Welcome, who managed to set a new St. Vincent triple jump record with a leap of 14.07 (+1.6). Alysah Hickey, an American long jumper, also managed to achieve an outdoor personal best with a jump of 6.71 (+1.5). Talie Bonds set a personal best time of 12.65 (+1.2) in the 100m hurdles event, while Jermaisha Arnold won the women’s 400m with a time of 50.79.
In other events, Caisja Chandler set a personal best time of 22.67 (+1.5) in the women’s 200m, while Kaila Jackson ran a windy 11.04 (+2.2) in the women’s 100m. The US team consisting of Sant-Price, Prandini, Akinosun and Henderson managed to secure victory in the women’s 4x100m relay event with a time of 43.07.
Finally, in the pole vault event, Nastassja Campbell managed to secure victory with a personal best height of 4.55m. Sophie Gutermuth also managed to achieve the same height for a personal best at the age of 30.
Meanwhile, Kristen Leland and Rachel Baxter managed to set outdoor personal best heights in the same order. Overall, the 63rd MtSAC Relays showcased some of the best athletes in the world, and their performances did not disappoint.
