Philadelphia, PA – Hydel High won the High School Girls’ 4×100 Championship of America at Penn Relays. Alana Reid, Oneika McAnnuff, Shemonique Hazle, and Alliah Baker ran an impressive 44.16 seconds, the fifth fastest time in Penn Relays history.
Cory Bennett admitted, “We have been having a good year as a school. God has blessed us with this won. We never won it before. To come out of victors, it’s really a good feeling.”
Bullis School’s team from Maryland came in second place, with Kennedy Flynn, Jade Ofotan, Sage Hinton, and Mirai Bernard finishing in 45.59 seconds. St. Jago High took third place with Bryana Davidson, Quana Walker, Briana Campbell, and Poshana Lee Blake, finishing in 45.98.
Other schools participating in the event were McDonogh School from Maryland, St. Augustine’s from the Bahamas, Heritage from Virginia, South County from Virginia, and Wolmer’s Girls from Jamaica.
Unfortunately, Edwin Allen, who lost for the first time in eight years, did not finish the race.
The High School Girls’ 4×100 Championship of America showcased young female athletes’ outstanding speed and athleticism. Held at Franklin Field, it was a highly competitive event that gave the crowd a thrilling display of high school track and field.
