Canada beats USA in men’s 4x100m final – Oregon22

Canada upstaged the United States of America to win the men’s 4x100m relay on Saturday’s penultimate day of the Oregon22 World Athletics Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene, USA.

Canada won the gold medal in 37.48, with Andre De Grasse holding off the United States’ Marvin Bracy on the anchor leg, who finished in 37.55.

Canada has won the event twice before, in 1995 and 1997.

Great Britain won the bronze medal, holding off Jamaica, who finished 4th, 37.83 to 38.06.

Ghana placed 5th, equalling their best finish at the World Championships from 1997.

The fastest split in the race was Akani Simbine (RSA) with an 8.77 anchor leg, followed by De Grasse’s 8.79.
