Lloyd, Clarke advance in 100m at Tokyo 2020

tokyo 2020 alertsAntigua and Barbuda’s Joella Lloyd advanced from the preliminary round of the women’s 100m on Friday (29 July) at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Lloyd, a student at the University of Tennessee, won heat 3 of the event in 11.55.

The other rounds, officially the heats, will have big names such as Jamaicans Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Elaine Thompson-Herah, Shericka Jackson, and Dina Asher-Smith.

Asimenye Simwaka of Malawi ran a national record of 11.76 to book her spot in the next round.

Amya Clarke also into next round

Amya Clarke of St Kitts and Nevis also booked her ticket in the next round, set for Friday later tonight (Jamaica time) at 10:15.
Clarke ran 11.67 for third in heat one, which went to Natacha Ngoye Akamabi of the Republic of the Congo in 11.47.
