Thirty-two women and Twentynine (29) men will represent Jamaica at this month’s (23 July to 8 August) Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. Overall, 1900 athletes from more than 190 countries will compete at the Tokyo Olympic Games when the athletics programme begins on 30 July.

World 100m champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, who won back-to-back Olympic Games titles in Beijing 2008 and London 2012, headline the team.
Elaine Thompson-Herah, the reigning Olympic Games sprint double champion, is heading back to defend her titles.
Shericka Jackson, a winner of World and Olympic Games 400m bronze medals, is stepping down in the 100m and 200m.
The women’s sprints will be hot with Fraser-Pryce, Sha’Carri Richardson, Gabby Thomas, Thompson-Herah, Shericka Jackson and Dina Asher-Smith.
Shaneika Ricketts and Danielle Thomas-Dodd are also medallists from Doha 2019. Danielle Williams, a reserve, also won the Doha 2019 medal and is the Beijing 2015 1090m hurdles champion.
Deagu 2011 world 100m champion Yohan Blake, who won the sprint double silver behind Usain Bolt at London 2012, is going to his third Olympic Games. Blake and Hansle Parchment, winner of the 110m hurdles bronze, also in London, are the only Olympic Games medallists on the male side.
World long jump champion Tajay Gayle and Fedrick Dacres, who won silver in Doha 2019, are the other individual global medallists.
Omar McLeod, Rio 2016 110m hurdles winner, was not surprisingly left out.
“The following is the list of track and field athletes selected to represent Jamaica in the 2020 Olympic Games being held in 2021 in Tokyo, Japan, 23 July -to 8 August 2021,” the JAAA said in a statement.
