BOSTON, USA – Sub-10 king Asafa Powell will open his season this weekend, 25 January, here at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix.
Powell, who ran 98 sub-10 times, the most by any sprinter in the history of the sport, will face Trayvon Bromell. American Bromell is the 2016 world indoor champion over 60m.
Powell’s personal best over 60m is 6.44, which puts him number 8 on the world’s all-time list. His 100m PB is 9.72 and world best over 100yards of 9.07s. Bromell’s 60m PB is 6.47 and 9.84 for 100m
American Marvin Bracy, who has a personal best of 6.48, is due to make a comeback to the track.
World 800m champion Donavan Brazier is on the entry-list for the 600m.
World 5000m bronze medallist Konstanze Klosterhalfen from Germany steps down to the 1500m to face world finalist Ciara Mageean from Ireland.
World 3000m steeplechase silver medallist Emma Coburn is confirmed for the two miles.
Sydney McLaughlin will close the programme in the 500m.
