Blake, Tracey Qualify For Birmingham DL 100m Final

Jamaica’s former World Champion Yohan Blake booked his place in the final of the men’s 100m at the Birmingham Diamond League on Sunday (18 Aug).

Blake, who has a personal best of 9.69 and season-best 9.96, easily qualify with 10.18 seconds. He was second to American Michael Rodgers, 10.16, from heat 2.

Zhenye Xie of China was the other automatic qualifier from the heat in 10.19.

Romell Glave, running under the Jamaican flag, finished sixth and missed out on a place in the final. His time was 10.42.

In heat one, Tyquendo Tracey’s 10.19 got him into the final as one of the slowest qualifiers. Adam Gemili won the heat in 10.08.

Christopher Belcher of The USA, 10.09 and Canadian Andre de Grasse, 10.14, are also in the final.
