London 2017 | Miller-Uibo: “I’m thankful for my performance”

LONDON – Shaunae Miller-Uibo, who came into the London 2017 World Championship the overwhelming favorite for gold, is now giving thanks for bronze in the women’s 200m.

“I’m thankful for my performance,” said Miller-Uibo after crossing the line in 22.15 seconds behind defending champion from the Netherlands, Dafne Schippers, 22.05 season best, and Marie-Josee Ta Lou of the Ivory Coast, 22.08 national record.

Miller-Uibo was left behind on the curve, but despite a fast finish, she was not able to get past Schippers and Ta Lou.

“The ladies brought their A game and it was really competitive. That’s what I love to do, compete against the best. It was an amazing feeling, I had some fun and now I’m going home with a bronze medal too, so I’m really happy.”

Miller-Uibo into the Championships with the 400m her main focus while adding the will be more of fun. It was the first time she was doubling at a major championships.

“It’s been a great experience for me, with my first attempt at the double. It was different but I liked it. I’m definitely going to try it again in 2019,” she promised
