London Olympic Games 400m champion, Kirani James, is ready for his season opener here at the Chris Brown Bahamas Invitational Meet (See full interview below).

James, who will defend his 400m crown in Rio this summer, when asked about his preparation, said “it’s going good.”

The Grenadian superstar will face a good field at the Thomas A. Robinson Stadium. Jeremy Wariner, former World and Olympic Games 400m champion, his American compatriot Angelo Taylor and Trinidad and Tobago’s Renny Quow, are in the field.

“I am just looking forward to come out here and compete in front of a great Bahamian crowd and compete against some great athletes,” he said.

James said he has not changed much in terms of his training, apart from “just more focus and consistence in what we do”

LaShawn Merritt, the World Championships silver medallist from last year, believes the 400m will be a lot faster this year.

Merritt said he expects to see more people running 43 seconds.

James agreed and according to him, “a lot of guys have gotten to understand it better."
