National Junior Representative and Papine High’s Tiffany James is upbeat about this year's Champs. The World Youth Bronze medallist who has a PR of 53.21 at 400m and 24.42 in the 200m will only face the starters in the 400m this year at champs.
James whose definitive aim is to establish a new PB this season and become Pan-American Champion expressed that her preparations so far going into champs have been good and really has not done anything different than she would in previous years.
“Preparation is good so far and my goal for this season is to become Pan-American Champion and run a new personal best," said James.
The first year class 1 athlete who won the 400m in class 2 last year at Champs will have to contend with the likes of Saqukine Cameron of Edwin Allen who ran a blistering 53.63 at Youngster Goldsmith meet on Feb 7, and last year's Class 1 silver medallist Dawnlee Loney, formerly of Balaclava High now running in Camperdown colours, who ran 54.07 at the same meet.
With all that in mind, James believes that anyone who lines up in a race with her is a threat and she is not taking anyone lightly. Consequently, her intention is to focus on what she needs to do to execute a perfect race.
“Well everybody is a threat to me once you stand up in the race to compete with me you want to win so everybody is a threat”.
The Shanieke Osbourne conditioned Athlete whose best moment at champs is proudly representing her school Papine High, is fully aware that her school cannot win champs, however she is of the view that her school overall will put out a better showing than previous years and she, herself, would love to attain a new PB and win Gold for her school.
“Well we all know my school can’t win champs but I am expecting better than previous years. Champs 2015 I am expecting to get my PB and achieve my goals”.
