Still in talks with American Carmelita Jeter

The women's 100 metre dash on Wednesday, 7th May 2014, could well proven to be the event of the evening at the third edition of the Cayman Invitational.

A truly formidable field has been assembled to battle for top honours.

One of the most prolific medal winners in women's track and field history is Jamaican Veronica Campbell-Brown, one of only nine athletes to obtain world titles at the youth, junior and senior level in an event. Campbell-Brown has amassed a total of 40 medals representing her country at  regional and international championships, including seven at the Olympics.

Murielle Ahoure has represented the Ivory Coast in fine fashion. She is the national record holder for the 100 metres, and African record holder for 200 metres, indoors and outdoors. At the 2012 London Olympics, she placed 6th in the 100 metre final and 7th at double the distance. Murielle competed at the Inaugural Cayman Invitational in 2012, finishing third in both the 100 and 200 metre dashes.

Allyson Felix of the United States has enjoyed high results across the sprint charts. Her top performances at 100, 200 and 400 metres are 10.91s, 21.69s and 49.59. She collected three gold medals at the London Olympics in the 200 and the 4×100 and 4×400 relays.

Allyson has garnered 25 medals over her career in hemispheric and world championships.

The organizers are still in talks with American Carmelita Jeter, who has won on her two previous visits. She has gained 13 medals at various Senior Championships. The California State-Dominguez Hills graduate, who has sped to a personal best listed at 10.64 seconds, won the silver medal at the 2012 Olympic Games.

Over the past few years, Jeter, Felix and Campbell-Brown have opposed each other in some heart-stopping battles in the short sprints. Now alone with the Ivory Coast sprint queen, Muirelle Ahoure this will surely be special.

The next one could likely take place next month here in Grand Cayman.

This will be an epic encounter- be there!
