Tyra Gittens, a heptathlete from Trinidad & Tobago, has been given a retroactive six-month suspension by the Athlete Integrity Unit (AIU) after testing positive for methylphenidate.

Gittens claims that she forgot to renew her TUE for ADHD medication. The ban has been backdated to September 26, 2022, but she will lose all of her results from June 26, 2022.

In a separate announcement, the Athletics Integrity Unit has revealed that two promising German athletes have also been suspended for up to three years.

Marie Scheppan, who won the silver medal in the 400m at the 2018 European U18 Championships, has been banned for two years starting from October 16, 2022.

Meanwhile, Paula Schneiders, the 2019 European U20 champion in the 3000m steeplechase, has been banned for three years starting from December 21, 2022.
