KINGSTON, Jamaica — Elaine Thompson completed the women’s sprint double after the Olympic champion outpaced fellow MVP training partner Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce to win the women’s race.
However, Yohan Blake was denied the same feat in the men’s category.
Thompson, the Rio Olympic Games champion from 2016, posted a world-leading time of 22.00 seconds to set a new season’s best.
The 27-year-old sizzled to a world-leading time of 10.73 seconds to win the women’s 100m on Friday night.
Runner-up in the 100m Fraser-Pryce returned the runner up again in the 200m.
The 2013 world champion over the half lap event ran a season’s best time of 22.22 seconds, a career sixth fastest time for second place on Sunday.
Fraser-Pryce got away to a fast start, but was outpaced by Thompson, over the last 60m.
Schillonie Calvert-Powell of Altis took third with 22.92 just ahead of Shashalee Forbes of Sprintec, at 22.96.
The men’s race saw Rasheed Dwyer of Sprintec denying Yohan Blake the chance to win the sprint double, pipping the 100m champion on the line to win in 20.23.
Blake, the second fastest man on the all-time list behind world record holder and former training partner Usain Bolt, at 19.26 seconds, had to settle for second on Sunday in a time of 20.27.
U.S. based sprinter Andre Ewers of Florida State, ran 20.48 seconds for third.
